West Indies cricketer, Joshua Persaud, has been forced to leave New Zealand part way through the under-19 World Cup after the tragic death of his mother.

Persaud’s mother was killed in a car accident in  the US, forcing the cricketer to leave New Zealand on Saturday night to return home to Guyana to be with family.

Cricket West Indies expressed their heartfelt condolences in a statement, and made arrangements for Persaud to depart New Zealand immediately after he received the sad news.
