Grenada officially opened its 2026-27 cruise season Tuesday with the arrival of the Coral Princess at the Melville Street Cruise Terminal in St. George’s, beginning a season expected to bring 192 scheduled cruise calls through May 2027.

The Princess Cruises ship, which has a guest capacity of 2,000, marks the start of a busy period for local tour guides, vendors, attractions and other tourism service providers.

The season’s schedule includes visits to Carriacou, Grenada’s sister island, and a mix of large cruise ships, smaller luxury vessels and sailing ships.

The Grenada Tourism Authority said cruise tourism provides opportunities for local businesses through excursions, transportation, dining and purchases from vendors and artisans.

Tourism Minister Adrian Thomas said the government wants to ensure that the benefits of cruise tourism reach local businesses and communities.

“Cruise tourism provides an important avenue for our people to participate in the visitor economy,” Thomas said, highlighting the role of local guides, artisans and communities in shaping visitors’ experiences.

The busiest period is expected to run from December through February, with 38 cruise calls scheduled for December, 42 for January and 44 for February.

Grenada Tourism Authority Chairman Randall Dolland said the season offers an opportunity to encourage cruise passengers to return for longer stays.

“Each call gives us a valuable opportunity to show visitors why Grenada deserves more than a day on their itinerary,” Dolland said.

He added that connecting cruise visitors with the destination’s attractions and local communities could strengthen Grenada’s appeal as a holiday destination while generating business for local operators.

Cruise calls to Carriacou will also give passengers opportunities to experience the island’s maritime heritage and local attractions.

Shanai St. Bernard, nautical development manager at the Grenada Tourism Authority, said coordination among cruise lines, port partners and local operators would be important to ensuring smooth arrivals and a positive visitor experience.

The 2026-27 cruise season is scheduled to continue through May 2027.
