Grammy Highlights: The Caribbean Takeover

There’s no question that some of the best moments of the 60^th Grammy Awards held in New York City belonged to artists with Caribbean heritage. Here are some video highlights of last night’s superstars. Shaggy and Sting These legendary singers first lit up the stage earlier this month at the annual Shaggy & Friends fundraiser benefitting Bustamante Hospital. Their Grammy set opened with a rendition of Sting’s  “Englishman in New York” before they performed the new single " “Don’t Make Me Wait”  for the music industry’s best and brightest. Stay tuned for a joint album later this year. Rihanna, DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller “Wild Thoughts” Always the trendsetter, Bajan superstar Rihanna set the awards audience and the Internet afire when she rocked the steps to South Africa’s popular gwara gwara dance.

Bruno Mars and Cardi B The night’s biggest winner is of Puerto Rican heritage and his soul-soothing music would not be denied this year. Along with the Dominican/Trini rapper who shot to stardom, “Finesse,” their ode to the 90s was full of vibrance. Damian Marley wins Reggae Album Grammy for “Stony Hill” Damian Marley was awarded the Grammy for Best Reggae album earlier in the night, and here’s an interview of him discussing the inspiration for the album. Just added: Puerto Rico's Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's incredible performance of megahit "Despacito."
