Frontier Airlines expands connectivity to St Maarten
In an exciting development for St Maarten’s tourism sector, the Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic, and Telecommunication (TEATT), Grisha Heyliger-Marten, greeted the inaugural flight 244 of Frontier Airlines from San Juan, Puerto Rico, as it touched down at Princess Juliana International Airport on Monday.
A gateway reopened
Minister Heyliger-Marten hailed the arrival of Frontier Airlines as a significant milestone in the island's efforts to enhance airlift and connectivity.
She reminisced about a bygone era when San Juan served as a vital gateway for St Maarten, catering to a myriad of needs ranging from medical trips to leisure travel and shopping excursions.
Affordable and comfortable flights return
With a nostalgic nod to the past, the Minister underscored the importance of accessible and convenient air travel, a feature that had seemingly faded with time.
However, Frontier Airlines, with its 180-seat A320 aircraft, has now reintroduced affordable and comfortable flights from San Juan, igniting optimism for increased travel frequency in the future.
Gateway to diverse destinations
Highlighting the strategic significance of the San Juan route, Minister Heyliger-Marten emphasized its role as an alternative hub not only to the United States but also to Latin America and the Caribbean.
The integration of this route, coupled with the recently reinstated Orlando service, signifies Frontier Airlines’ confidence in St Maarten’s potential as a premier tourist destination.
