Track athletes Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Rasheed Broadbell were crowned Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year, respectively, at the 2022 RJRGLEANER Sports Foundation National Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year Awards on Friday.

The event which took place at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel resulted in Broadbell winning the award for the first time, while for the outstanding Fraser-Pryce, it was her fifth title.

Broadbell won the 110 meter's hurdles at the Commonwealth Games by equaling the record of 13.08 seconds, and Fraser-Pryce won the 100 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon in 10.67 seconds, to claim the title for an unprecedented fifth time.

World Championships 200m gold medalist Shericka Jackson was runner-up to Fraser-Pryce, while cricketer Rovman Powell, who enjoyed an outstanding year leading the Jamaica Tallawahs to their third Caribbean Premier League T20 title and Jamaica Scorpions to their first Super 50 title in 10 years, was second best to Broadbell.

Former men’s 100m World Record holder Asafa Powell was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
