Historic victory

Hallgrimsson took charge of the Reggae Boyz in 2022, immediately facing a daunting debut match against South American giants Argentina, which resulted in a 3-0 loss. He secured his first win months into his tenure with a 4-1 victory over Caribbean rivals Trinidad and Tobago in the group stages of the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Under his leadership, the team reached the semi-finals of the same tournament and claimed a third-place finish in the most recent CONCACAF Nations League. A historic victory away to Canada paved the way for Jamaica's qualification for the 2024 Copa America.

His final game as coach was on Sunday, a 3-0 loss to Venezuela, resulting in the team bowing out of the Copa America without a win.
