Former Reggae Boy, wife charged after cocaine seizure in St. James

A football coach and his wife, a customer service agent, have been charged following the seizure of cocaine at their home in Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, St. James.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) said detectives assigned to the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) Area 1 Gang Unit carried out an operation at the couple’s two-storey residence at about 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, January 29.

The accused have been identified as 56-year-old Hector Wright, a football coach, and his wife, 42-year-old Jodi-Ann Coke-Wright, both of Catherine Hall.

According to police, during a search of the premises, officers discovered containers holding substances suspected to be illegal drugs. Investigators from the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) were called in, and subsequent examination revealed the substances to be more than 20 pieces of crack cocaine.

Both Wright and Coke-Wright were taken into custody and later charged with possession of cocaine and dealing in cocaine.

They are scheduled to appear in court on February 25.

Wright is a former national midfielder who made his senior debut in 1988 against Canada and went on to earn 110 caps for Jamaica. He was appointed head coach of the Cornwall College football team last season and led the school to the Ben Francis Knockout final, where they lost 2–0 to Clarendon College.
