Jamaica's former People's National Party Senator Delano Franklyn has died.

Mr Franklyn, who was 63, died Thursday night after ailing for some time.

Last September, he was admitted to hospital in serious condition and an urgent appeal for blood was made.

Mr Franklyn, an attorney at law was one of the founding partners of the law firm Wilson & Franklyn.

He was also a former minister of state in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

He also served as chief advisor to Prime Minister P. J. Patterson.
