Florida’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday returns for the entire month of August

Caribbean-American parents across Florida can breathe a little easier this August as the state’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday returns—this time for the entire month. Running from Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 31, the tax break offers families a chance to save big on essential school supplies and tech purchases as they prepare for the new academic year.

During the holiday, no Florida state sales tax or local option tax will be collected on select back-to-school items, including:

  • Clothing, footwear, wallets, and backpacks priced at $100 or less per item

  • School supplies priced at $50 or less per item

  • Learning aids and jigsaw puzzles priced at $30 or less

  • Personal computers and related electronics, including laptops, tablets, monitors, input devices, and non-recreational software, priced at $1,500 or less when purchased for noncommercial home or personal use

Qualifying school supplies range from everyday essentials like calculators, pens, notebooks, and glue to items like construction paper, staplers, lunch boxes, and rulers. The list of approved learning aids includes flashcards, memory games, puzzle books, and toys designed to teach reading or math skills.

The month-long tax holiday is expected to provide meaningful savings for Florida families while helping students return to the classroom well-prepared and equipped for success.
