A popular Florida rapper who has Jamaican roots, Richard Morales Junior, widely recognized by his stage name Gunplay, is facing charges following an alleged domestic violence incident.

The rapper reportedly got into an argument with his wife over his Xbox.

Gunplay on Love & Hip Hop Miami

From casual gaming to chaotic scene

Reports are that Morales' wife requested that he lower the noise during his gaming session, but her appeal was met with aggression, particularly as Morales was under the influence.

The arrest report states Morales also hurled glass cups and liquor bottles. Fearing for the safety of their six-month-old child, the mother used a blanket to shield from the flying glass.

It is further reported that Morales allegedly aimed a rifle at his wife. His wife alleges he made threats to shoot her while she was holding their child.

A desperate escape


The victim then reportedly tried to leave when Morales allegedly tried to obstruct her departure.

Reports are that he attempted to seize the baby by grabbing the infant around the neck and head.

The victim managed to make her exit with the baby, before police arrived on the scene to detain Morales.

Legal consequences loom


Morales is faced with a slew of charges, including aggravated battery and child abuse.

Gunplay's notable career


Gunplay made contributions to the hip hop scene. He made waves as part of Rick Ross’ Southern hip hop group, Triple C’s, originating from Florida.

His public presence extended beyond music, as he appeared in the MTV reality series Love & Hip Hop Miami.
