Florida officials investigate fuel spill in Fort Lauderdale

Authorities in Fort Lauderdale are investigating a fuel spill discovered Tuesday morning by the city’s Police Department’s Marine Unit near the 500 block of E Las Olas Boulevard. 

Despite efforts to trace its source along the New River, outgoing tide hampered immediate identification.

Coast Guard alert

Prompt action followed as officers alerted the United States Coast Guard.

Reports are that the  Department of Environmental Protection is responding to further assess the waterway.

Investigations are ongoing
