Broward County has executed contract agreements with OIC of Broward County, Inc. (OIC) and Fort Lauderdale Community Center (FLCC) to implement the Employment Self Sufficiency Program (Program) that was previously approved by the Board of County Commissioners. The Program is another step forward in the County's efforts to reduce the high unemployment rate in the Broward Municipal Services District (BMSD) among residents who are over 18 years old.
Program goals
Program goals include enhancing the appearance of the BMSD (also known as unincorporated Broward), spark employment opportunities for residents seeking a job, and offer training, educational and vocational opportunities to support small startup businesses within the BMSD.
Competitive selection process
Selection of OIC and FLCC was managed through a competitive selection process. Contracted services per agreement with OIC include bus shelter maintenance/clean-ups, graffiti removal, traffic engineering field checks, verification of complaints, and removal of unauthorized signage in County right-of-way. The value of the contract is $206,098.

Contracted services per agreement with FLCC include sidewalk pressure cleaning on roadways, maintaining landscape at entryways, maintaining vacant County owned properties, board-ups of abandoned homes and land/lot clearance. The value of the contract is $115,362.
