Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah has defended her 100 meters title at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 10.61 seconds, breaking Florence Griffith-Joyner's Olympic Record of 10.62 at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

She is now the fastest woman alive. Fraser-Pryce ran the fourth-fastest time in history at 10.63 seconds in June, which made her the fastest woman alive.

In the 100 meters, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce was second in 10.74 and Shericka Jackson was third in 10.76 seconds.

It was the second Olympic 100m sweep for the Jamaican women. At the 2008 Bejing Olympics, Fraser-Pryce took the gold, and Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart took the silver, with an equal time of 10.98 seconds.

Fraser-Pryce, Thomspon-Herah, and Jackson will all compete in the 200 meters and 4x100 meter relay events.
