Eight Broward students win prestigious National Merit Scholarships
Eight outstanding students from Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) have been named National Merit Scholarship winners, earning $2,500 awards in recognition of their exceptional academic performance and leadership.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the winners as part of the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program, a prestigious national competition that honors top high school seniors based on academic achievement, PSAT/NMSQT scores, community involvement, and leadership qualities.
Among the honorees is Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School senior Ella Maurice, who joins an elite group of students nationwide recognized for their potential for future success.

These students were selected from a pool of more than 15,000 finalists nationwide. The rigorous selection process includes a detailed application, a personal essay, and strong academic records.
The $2,500 scholarships are unrestricted and may be used at any regionally accredited college or university in the United States. Winners of the college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships will be announced in June and July.
BCPS officials applauded the students for their hard work and dedication, calling the awards a testament to the district’s commitment to academic excellence.
