Dujuan Richards summoned as injuries, other issues depleted Reggae Boyz squad

Jamaica’s 23-man Reggae Boyz squad has been hit by a number of withdrawals through injuries and other issues with no less than four players being impacted.

Veteran defender Adrian Mariappa has withdrawn due to personal issues, while right-wing back Javain Brown and forward Renaldo Cephas have pulled out due to injuries.

And West Ham United striker Michail Antonio will be available for only the second game, it is understood.

The Jamaicans are currently in Grenada ahead of their CONCACAF Nations League A Group B group stage game on Thursday.

Boyz face Haiti in Trinidad on Sunday

The team will then travel to Trinidad to face Haiti on Sunday in the second of the two-game series for this window.

Jamaica lead the group on four points, the same as Cuba, with Honduras next on three points, followed by Haiti on two, with Suriname and Grenada on one point each.

Meanwhile, head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson and his technical staff have summoned teenager Dujuan Richards to replace Cephas, in a surprise move.

Richards originally omitted from 23-man squad

Richards was originally omitted from the squad announced last Friday with Hallgrimsson citing his lack of regular playing time and lower fitness as the reasons for his exclusion.

But within a few days, it seems all those reasons have been tossed.

The team had a 90-minute training session at the Grenada National Stadium on Tuesday morning and will repeat the trick at the same venue on Wednesday morning.
