Drug bust in Trinidad: Cocaine worth over TT$1 million seized

An anti-crime operation unfolded in the El Socorro area, leading Trinidadian authorities to a major drug haul.

Reports are that the police executed a strategic roadblock that brought a vehicle, and its occupants, under intense scrutiny.

A suspicious vehicle stopped

During the operation, a vehicle carrying two passengers, a 58-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman, caught the officers’ attention.

Acting on intelligence, the officers made the decisive move to halt the vehicle.

Hidden contraband unveiled

The authorities then conducted a thorough search of the vehicle.

Their efforts unearthed 36 boxes disguised as computer accessories. However, a further examination of the boxes revealed the presence of 1.038 kilograms of cocaine.

The drug has an estimated street value of TT$1.447 million.
