Dominica government seeks parliamentary approval for geothermal energy plant funding

The Dominica government is set to table a crucial proposal in parliament this Friday, seeking approval for funding the construction of a state-of-the-art geothermal energy plant.

Empowering Finance Minister to secure funding

The proposed move will authorize the Finance Minister, Dr. Irving McIntyre, to take a decisive step in obtaining a substantial bank guarantee from the National Bank of Dominica, amounting to EC$13.5 million.

Honoring commitments from the project financing agreement

The Roosevelt Skerrit-led administration has emphasized that these funds are essential to fulfill the commitments outlined in the project financing agreement signed recently.

This landmark agreement was formally inked earlier this month on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference held in Dubai.
