Dominant Jamaica on the verge of fifth straight victory at CGA 4-Ball Golf Championship

After two rounds of intense competition at the Caribbean Golf Association’s (CGA) 4-Ball Championship in Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica is on course to defend its title and secure a fifth consecutive victory.

The tournament, taking place at the Plantain Golf and Country Club, has seen Jamaica amass 46 points, giving them an eight-point lead over the host nation, Trinidad and Tobago, which currently sits in second place with 38 points.

A victory in this edition would extend Jamaica's dominance, having already clinched the championship in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. With one round remaining, the team appears well-positioned to claim the title yet again.

Jamaica leads in three of the six trophy categories

Trailing the top two teams, Bermuda holds third place with 25 points, while the Bahamas follows closely with 24 points. Barbados finds itself in fifth with 16 points, and the Cayman Islands rounds out the field with six points.

In the race for the prestigious Francis & Steele-Perkins Cup, Jamaica’s seven points place it ahead of Bermuda by two points. The team also enjoys a two-point advantage over the Bahamas (6-4) in the Higgs and Higgs Trophy, and a similar lead over Trinidad and Tobago (4-2) in the battle for the Dessie Henry Trophy for mid-amateur ladies.

The competition for the Maria Nunes Trophy, awarded to senior ladies, is much closer, with Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago tied at four points each. Meanwhile, both teams share second place with two points each in the newly introduced Ashraph Ali Cup for men over 70 years, where the Bahamas leads with four points.

In the final category, the Ramon Baez Romano Trophy, Jamaica currently finds itself in fifth place with just one point, while Bermuda tops the table with six points.
