Just last month, Disney announced that it is gearing up for the production of a live-action remake of the film, which will star young musician Halle Bailey. Many Caribbean fans called on Disney to cast a Caribbean actor to voice the part of Sebastian, even petitioning for popular Jamaican Comedian and Actor Oliver Samuels to get the role.

The character of Sebastian will be Shaggy's third overall movie role and his first animated role.
