Cricket West Indies (CWI) has taken another major step in reshaping the future of the regional game, announcing a strategic partnership with international advisory firm Teneo to help strengthen its operational, financial, and commercial foundations.

The engagement, approved by CWI's Board of Directors during its June 27 meeting, forms a key component of the organization's ongoing transformation strategy and is designed to provide an independent assessment of its restructuring and cost-optimization efforts.

Working alongside CWI's executive leadership, Teneo will evaluate the progress already made while identifying opportunities to further enhance efficiency, commercial performance, and long-term financial sustainability.

Independent expertise to guide the next phase

The assignment will be led by Teneo's CARICOM Chairman, Brian Glasgow, and Managing Director, David Collins, drawing on the firm's international network of more than 1,800 professionals operating from over 50 offices worldwide.

Renowned for developing commercial strategies across football, motorsport, cricket, and tennis, Teneo has advised several of the world's leading sports organizations, including Manchester United. That global experience is expected to help Cricket West Indies maximize the value of one of the sport's most recognizable brands.

Dehring: Independent perspective will strengthen the process

CWI Chief Executive Officer Chris Dehring described the partnership as an important milestone in the organization's long-term modernization efforts.

"The West Indies brand is one of the most powerful and recognisable in world sport. We need partners who understand how to translate that brand power into operational strength. Teneo brings that experience, having advised some of the most iconic names in global sport."

Dehring emphasized that the external review will complement, not replace, the work already underway within the organization.

"Critically, this engagement gives us an independent, external lens on the work already underway. It tests our thinking and ensures we are building on the soundest possible foundation. This is a natural next step in the broader transformation agenda of our 2024-2027 Strategic Plan."

Teneo embraces the responsibility

For Glasgow, the opportunity extends beyond business strategy, reflecting the significance of Cricket West Indies throughout the Caribbean.

"Cricket West Indies is far more than a sporting organisation. It is a symbol of Caribbean pride, identity and achievement that has united our region for generations. We are honoured to support CWI and look forward to working closely with its leadership, stakeholders, and partners as they continue building for the future."

Collins said the firm's objective is to reinforce the work CWI has already begun while helping position the organization for lasting success.

"CWI has already undertaken significant foundational work. We are excited to bring our organisational, financial, and commercial advisory expertise to support that journey. Our focus is on strengthening the foundations for enduring success, enabling CWI to invest in the game, create opportunities for future generations, and maximise the potential of one of sport's most recognised brands."

Building the future of West Indies cricket

The Teneo partnership represents the latest stage of Cricket West Indies' broader transformation agenda, which extends beyond financial and commercial reform.

The governing body continues to pursue improvements in governance, strengthen the regional player development pathway, and deepen collaboration with territorial boards and key stakeholders across the Caribbean.

By pairing internal reforms with independent global expertise, CWI aims to create a stronger, more sustainable organization capable of preserving the proud legacy of West Indies cricket while positioning it for long-term success on and off the field.
