The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is no longer simply traveling across the Caribbean.

It is traveling around the world, and the numbers are exploding.

The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League has recorded more than 100 percent growth in live-stream viewership during the 2026 season, with cricket fans in India emerging as the driving force behind a digital audience that has more than doubled.

The surge marks a major milestone for the Caribbean's premier T20 competition and provides powerful evidence that the CPL's appeal is breaking through traditional geographical and broadcast boundaries.

From the Caribbean to the Indian subcontinent, supporters are increasingly choosing to watch the action through digital platforms, particularly YouTube and Facebook.

The result is a dramatic expansion of the league's online audience.

Fans are choosing the digital route

The shift has been evident throughout the 2026 campaign.

Rather than relying exclusively on traditional television broadcasts, growing numbers of fans are following the tournament through CPL live streams, accessing matches from wherever they happen to be.

That trend has been especially pronounced in India, where an enormous appetite for cricket has helped propel the CPL's digital numbers to unprecedented levels.

The timing has also worked in the league's favor.

With the tournament unfolding during the peak of the Indian monsoon season, fans across the subcontinent have found the CPL's readily accessible live coverage an attractive source of high-quality cricket entertainment.

For the league, the surge represents more than impressive statistics.

It validates a strategy built around making the CPL easier to access and bringing the distinctive Caribbean T20 experience directly to an international audience.

Russell: ‘The biggest party in sport’ is reaching more fans

Pete Russell, Republic Bank CPL CEO, said the latest figures demonstrate how rapidly the competition's global audience is expanding.

“To see live stream viewership more than double this season, with such strong growth coming from our fans in India, speaks to the growing global appeal of this tournament,” Russell said.

The growth, he added, is allowing the CPL's trademark combination of cricket, music, atmosphere and Caribbean culture to reach an audience far beyond the region.

“The ‘Biggest Party in Sport’ is now reaching more fans than ever before, and we remain committed to bringing them closer to the action, wherever they are watching from. We expect that this growth will continue over the coming weeks.”

That expectation is significant.

With the 2026 season still underway, the CPL believes its streaming audience has room to grow even further.

Caribbean flavor, global audience

The attraction is not simply the cricket.

The CPL has built its identity around a package that blends high-impact T20 action with the sights, sounds and energy of the Caribbean.

That formula is now being delivered directly to fans through the league's digital platforms.

Every boundary, wicket, celebration and dramatic finish can be experienced by viewers thousands of miles from the grounds where the matches are being played.

For Indian fans in particular, the digital expansion creates a direct connection to a tournament featuring some of the world's most entertaining T20 cricket while offering an experience distinctly different from the established competitions they know at home.

The growing numbers suggest that audience is responding.

A watershed moment for the CPL

More than doubling live-stream viewership in a single season represents a significant shift in the CPL's international profile.

The league has long positioned itself as one of the world's leading T20 competitions, but the latest digital figures provide a new measure of its reach.

India's contribution is particularly important because of the country's enormous cricket audience and its potential to expose the CPL to millions of additional fans.

At the same time, the continued strength of the league's Caribbean following ensures that its expansion does not come at the expense of its identity.

Instead, the CPL is taking its Caribbean character to a much larger audience.

The digital front door to the ‘biggest party in sport’

As the 2026 season moves deeper into its decisive stages, the CPL is placing digital access at the center of its global growth strategy.

YouTube and Facebook have become increasingly important gateways for fans who want to experience the tournament live, helping the league overcome distance and traditional broadcast limitations.

And the product being delivered is unmistakably Caribbean: pulsating music, vibrant crowds, colorful personalities and explosive T20 cricket.

The numbers show that the world is tuning in.

With Indian fans leading an unprecedented streaming surge and the tournament still having matches ahead, the CPL's digital revolution may only be getting started.

The “Biggest Party in Sport” is getting bigger, and now an increasingly global audience has a front-row seat.
