Bravo’s record of T20 excellence
Few players have left a larger imprint on the CPL than Bravo.
The former West Indies all-rounder is the tournament’s most decorated player, having collected five titles during his playing career.
He won four championships with the Trinbago Knight Riders in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2020 before adding another with the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2021.
His influence continued after his playing career, with Bravo guiding the Knight Riders to the 2025 championship as head coach to claim a sixth CPL title.
His individual numbers further underline his impact. Bravo is the competition’s third-highest wicket-taker, with 129 wickets.
Sobers name adds historical weight
The honor bestowed on Bravo carries added significance because it bears the name of Sir Garry Sobers, the legendary West Indies all-rounder widely regarded as one of cricket’s greatest all-rounders.
The Sir Garry Sobers Award is the centerpiece of the CPL Hall of Fame, with the Sobers family granting the competition permission to use the iconic cricketer’s name for the award.
Bravo therefore enters the Hall of Fame not only as its first playing inductee but also as the inaugural recipient of an honor linked to one of the Caribbean’s most celebrated sporting figures.
Bishop honored behind the microphone
Bishop’s induction recognizes a different but equally enduring contribution to the CPL.
The former West Indies fast bowler has been part of the competition’s broadcast story since its launch in 2013, becoming one of the defining voices associated with the tournament.
From the Caribbean to audiences around the world, his commentary has helped tell the story of what the CPL brands as the “Biggest Party in Sport.”
His induction acknowledges a broadcasting career that has helped carry the tournament beyond the boundaries of the Caribbean and connect its players, matches and atmosphere with an international audience.
‘Everything this Hall of Fame was created to celebrate’
CPL CEO Pete Russell said the inaugural inductees embodied the values behind the new Hall of Fame.
“Dwayne and Ian represent everything this Hall of Fame was created to celebrate. Their contribution to this competition, on the field and behind the microphone, has helped build CPL into the phenomenon it is today, and it was a privilege to welcome them into this inaugural class.”
The evening also served a charitable purpose, supporting the Sir Clive Lloyd Healthcare Foundation’s prostate cancer awareness initiatives.
The Hall of Fame will now expand annually, with two new inductees scheduled to be added each year.
For its inaugural class, the CPL chose two figures who helped define its identity in very different ways: Bravo through an extraordinary record of success on the field and Bishop through the voice that has narrated the competition since its beginning.
