Miami-Dade –Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins announces $150,000 towards the SafeSummers Program, a District 8-funded initiative designed to provide local, community-based organizations with resources to offer full-time, summer camps and programming for the children of District 8.

The primary objective of the program is to create a safe and engaging environment that keeps the youth off the streets during the summer months.

Recognizing the importance of investing in the community's future, Commissioner Cohen Higgins awarded grants to 13 local non-profit organizations, totaling over $150,000. These grants will directly support and enhance the summer programming within District 8, benefiting hundreds of young individuals and their families.

"Working towards ensuring the safety and well-being of our children is a top priority for me and my office," said Commissioner Cohen Higgins. "The SafeSummers Program provides District 8 youth with a productive and supportive environment that encourages growth, learning, and engagement."

The SafeSummers Program offers a wide range of activities and opportunities for children in District 8, including sports, arts and crafts, educational workshops, cultural events, and community service projects. Commissioner Cohen Higgins encourages parents and guardians to explore the various summer camps and programs available through the SafeSummers program.
