Clarks Originals has unveiled its Dancehall collection, drawing inspiration from the heart of Jamaica – the Caribbean country that has warmly welcomed the brand’s iconic shoe designs.

From the 1970s, Jamaican dancehall DJs were flaunting the footwear at street parties, and the brand gained more traction following Vybz Kartel’s chart-topping  anthem “Clarks”. Even Jamaica's Prime Minister Andrew Holness has been seen wearing his pair for notable events.

The Jamaican affection for the brand has always been evident.

The new collection which was recently launched showcases six fresh designs bursting with rich colors, meticulous details, and top-tier materials.

A splash of Caribbean colors

Reimagining their staple Wallabee and Wallabee Boot designs, Clarks Originals incorporated hues that vividly resonate with the Caribbean spirit.

From lush greens to soft blush pinks and deep blues, the brand captures the energetic pulse of island culture.

Dancehall: The rhythmic roots

Originating in the 1970s, Jamaican dancehall music derives its beats from the soulful reggae rhythms.

Kingston’s inner-city residents, once excluded from uptown gatherings, started their own dance spaces in the 1940s. This genre, which began as a form of self-expression, now captivates audiences globally.

Vintage echoes: Paying homage to dancehall fashion

Venturing further into their lineup, Clarks Originals has modified its Desert Trek and Desert Boot with high-grade suedes.

Tonal embroidered stripes blend seamlessly into the designs, paying a subtle tribute to the pinstriped suits donned by dancehall enthusiasts in earlier days.

Staying true to their brand ethos, each pair features the distinctive pebble crepe soles, a testament to Clarks Originals’ commitment to comfort and long-lasting wear.

Where to find the dancehall collection

For those eager to don a pair from this vibrant collection, they're now available online across multiple platforms, including Clarks’ UK, US, Canada, and EU websites, as well as select international retailers.

The legacy of Clarks

Established in 1852 by siblings James and Cyrus Clark in Somerset, England, Clarks has since blossomed into a global footwear giant.
