Internet ads in Bay County love a low first number. The harder question is what you pay in month 13 and beyond. We compared six entry-level plans that Panama City households can check today, then looked at the fine print on each one: what the price includes, what it leaves out and when the provider can raise it.
How we ranked the plans
A low price means little if it jumps later. We scored each plan on its 24-month cost, rate certainty (a written price lock), performance value, data policy, flexibility (no contract, self-install, trial window) and what local users say. Every provider checks your exact address before it sells you a plan, so treat this list as a starting point and run the checker for your street.
1. WOW!: the longest price lock on a wired plan
The Panama City, Florida internet provider advertises speeds from $30 a month on its Panama City page, with AutoPay and paperless billing. Its plans run from Internet 300 up to Internet 600, 1 Gig and 2 Gig.
The main reason WOW! leads this list is the Price Lock for Life. For $5 a month more, WOW! says your monthly rate stays the same for as long as you stay with the same speed. In its own words: "No introductory pricing. No rate hikes after year one." No other plan on this list offers a lock with no end date.
WOW! also lists:
- No annual contracts.
- A WiFi modem included, or you can use your own compatible modem.
- A free self-install kit, or a technician visit if you prefer.
- A 30-day guarantee: if you do not like the service, you can get your money back.
WOW! serves ZIP codes 32401, 32404 and 32405 and surrounding areas, including Historic Downtown, Glenwood and Millville. With the lock, a $30 plan costs $35 a month, or about $840 over two years before taxes and fees.
2. Xfinity NOW100: the simplest $30 bill
Xfinity lists NOW Internet at $30 a month for 100 Mbps, with taxes and fees included in that price. WiFi equipment is included, there is no credit check and there is no annual contract. You can pause and resume the service.
The plan is prepaid, and AutoPay and paperless billing are required. You set up a refurbished gateway yourself. Xfinity says pricing is subject to change, so there is no written price lock, and its 30-day money-back guarantee does not apply to NOW Internet. If the price holds, NOW100 costs about $720 over two years.
3. AT&T Fiber 300: fiber at $35, but only for year one
AT&T advertises unlimited 300 Mbps fiber for $35 a month for new customers in select markets. That price includes $15 a month off for the first 12 months and $10 a month for AutoPay with a bank account.
After 12 months the $15 discount ends, so the bill becomes $50 with bank AutoPay. The AutoPay discount drops to $5 with a debit card, and there is no AutoPay discount with most credit cards. AT&T also says an installation fee of up to $99 may apply. Twelve months at $35 plus twelve months at $50 comes to $1,020, or up to $1,119 with the installation fee.
4. T-Mobile Rely: best value if you already have a T-Mobile phone line
T-Mobile lists Rely Home Internet at $50 a month with AutoPay, or $35 a month when you add a voice line. Taxes and fees are extra. The plan includes unlimited data, a 5G gateway and no annual contract.
T-Mobile offers a 5-Year Price Guarantee on the internet rate, with exclusions such as taxes and fees. The $35 price depends on the voice line, so if you drop that line, expect to pay the standalone price. Use the 15-day test drive before you cancel your old service. With a voice line, Rely costs about $840 over two years; without one, about $1,200.
5. Verizon 5G Home: all-in pricing for Verizon mobile customers
Verizon lists 5G Home at $60 a month, or $35 a month with a postpaid Verizon mobile plan. AutoPay and paper-free billing are required. Verizon describes this pricing as all-in, with no hidden taxes and fees, and the plan includes unlimited data and a router.
The base plan comes with a 3-year price lock guarantee on the base monthly rate, not on discounts. Verizon also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. Condo and apartment residents should check building rules before setting up equipment. With a Verizon phone plan, 5G Home costs about $840 over two years; standalone, about $1,440.
6. Viasat Essentials: a rural fallback with an early price jump
Viasat advertises Essentials at $39.99 a month for the first three months, then $69.99. A monthly equipment lease fee and taxes apply, and a one-time installation fee may be charged. Over two years, the service fee alone comes to about $1,590.
Essentials includes 150 GB of high-speed data, then unlimited standard data that Viasat may slow when the network is busy. Viasat offers month-to-month terms with no long-term commitment, or a 24-month term, depending on the plan. If any wired or 5G plan reaches your home, it will usually cost less.

Storm season and low-income options
Hurricane season is part of every internet decision in Bay County. Every type of service needs power somewhere along the line, and no single technology is storm-proof. A small battery backup (UPS) for your modem and a phone hotspot on a different network give you a fallback.
The federal Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) has ended. Xfinity Internet Essentials costs $14.95 a month for up to 75 Mbps for qualifying households, and Access from AT&T offers low-cost home internet to eligible households.
