Chase Gets Burns after Rain Dents first session of Day 2 Test

MANCHESTER, England – Part-time off-spinner Roston Chase knocked over Rory Burns on the stroke of lunch to hand West Indies their only success on the opening morning of the second Test on Thursday.

At the break, England had reached 29 for one with Dom Sibley unbeaten on eight.

With just an hour possible in the session due a delayed start because of rain, England seemed poised to safely navigate their way to the interval with Burns and Sibley quietly building their opening stand.

However, Chase struck with just the second delivery of his first over, getting left-hander Burns to play down the wrong line to a straight one and be adjudged plumb lbw.

West Indies are playing an unchanged side from the opening Test in Southampton while England have made four changes with captain Joe Root returning and Sam Curran, Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad all included.

Barbados-born speedster Jofra Archer was dropped after breaching the “bio-secure” protocols for the tour.
