CeCe Winans to headline transformative charity concert in Jamaica

When gospel legend CeCe Winans takes the stage at King’s House, East Lawn on Friday, August 1, 2025, it will be more than just a night of soul-stirring worship.

Her performance marks the Jamaican leg of her MORE THAN THIS Concert Tour—an event that’s being hailed not only as one of the island’s biggest cultural milestones of the year, but also as a major philanthropic moment for Jamaica.

The concert aims to be a celebration of faith and purpose, with 100% of the net proceeds set to benefit several of Jamaica’s most impactful charitable organizations.

At the forefront of this initiative is the Ophthalmology Unit at the Bustamante Hospital for Children, the country’s only dedicated pediatric hospital. The funds raised will go toward much-needed upgrades to diagnostic and surgical equipment, particularly the acquisition of a phacoemulsification machine and specialized cataract instruments.

Dr. Michelle-Ann Richards-Dawson, Senior Medical Officer at the Bustamante Hospital for Children, delivers remarks during the launch. Dr. Richards-Dawson outlined the urgent needs of Jamaica’s only paediatric ophthalmology unit, affirming the life-changing impact of the concert’s charitable focus on restoring children’s vision and dignity.

“This partnership is truly an answered prayer for the Bustamante Hospital for Children,” said Dr. Michelle-Ann Richards-Dawson, Senior Medical Officer at the hospital. “Our team of skilled ophthalmologists works tirelessly, but our equipment is in urgent need of upgrade… We are deeply grateful and inspired, knowing that together, we are giving children the precious gift of vision and a brighter future.”

Other beneficiaries include the Yadel Home for Children, a sanctuary for displaced and vulnerable youth. Proceeds will support educational tools, therapeutic services, and facility improvements.

Also on the recipient list is the Open Door Jamaica Foundation, founded by Dr. Terri-Karelle Reid. The organization focuses on empowering the disabled through education, youth mentorship, and family support—aligning with the concert's mission of not just meeting immediate needs, but building long-term opportunity.

The Governor-General’s Programme for Excellence (GGPE) will also receive support. This respected national initiative honors and invests in high-achieving, civic-minded Jamaican youth.

With over 15,000 patrons expected and performances from local gospel powerhouses such as Chevelle Franklyn, Kevin Downswell, Prince Saj, and Johnmark Wiggan, the concert promises both spiritual depth and wide-reaching social impact.
