Carson "Eddy" Edwards, a longtime Miramar resident and local entrepreneur, has announced his candidacy for Miramar Commission Seat 4 in the upcoming election scheduled for March 11, 2025.
With more than 30 years of involvement in community affairs, Edwards is running under the campaign theme “Stronger Together.”
Seat 4 became vacant following Vice Mayor Alexandra P. Davis’s election to the Broward County Commission on November 5, 2024. Edwards stated his intent to focus on addressing key community issues and fostering continued growth in Miramar if elected.
Edwards has been a visible figure in Miramar through his work as Managing Partner of Stingez Night Club and co-founder of the Jamaican Jerk Festival, ventures he says have contributed to the city’s economy and cultural landscape. He has also hosted radio programs and spearheaded community initiatives aimed at increasing civic engagement among residents.
“As a resident and business owner in Miramar for more than three decades, I’ve worked alongside neighbors to build a better community,” Edwards said. “This campaign is about working together to ensure that resources are used wisely and that all neighborhoods are safe and thriving.”
Edwards plans to officially launch his campaign with a public Kick-Off Event on January 8, 2025, where residents can learn more about his vision and priorities.
His campaign highlights several key areas, including affordable housing, sustainable development, support for local businesses, and enhanced community engagement. Edwards emphasized collaboration as a central approach to addressing these issues.
“I’m running to represent all of Miramar and to build a city where everyone can succeed,” Edwards said.
Edwards has lived in Miramar for more than 30 years. He has been married to his wife Bridget for 37 years and is the father of Kareem, a City of Miami firefighter.
