Caribbean countries shine among top global tourism performers

Several Caribbean countries have claimed their spot among the elite top eight global performers in tourism during the first nine months of the year.

The list includes Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas, along with Costa Rica, Colombia, and Mexico.

Sun and beach destinations attracting tourists

According to the latest findings by travel data analysis firm Forward Keys, the resurgence in international tourist arrivals has favored “sun and beach” destinations.

The islands have shown a robust increase in tourist numbers compared to their pre-2019 figures.

The rebound is primarily propelled by travelers from the United States and is complemented by a steady stream of visitors from long-haul markets, who are not just flocking to island destinations but are also exploring nearby countries for their rich nature and cultural offerings.

International travel: A boost for the Caribbean

The Forward Keys analysis further reveals that the countries leading the ranking of the top 20 best-performing destinations for the summer are Costa Rica, Aruba, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica, supported significantly by international travel.

A bright summer outlook for Caribbean and Latin American destinations

The forecast for summer travel indicates a dominant preference for the Caribbean and Latin America.

Seven out of the top ten destinations poised for the summer belong to this region, underscoring a trend that favors the warmth and diversity these destinations offer.
