Reggae Boyz, Haiti brace for elite opposition
Jamaica and Haiti have already secured places in the League A Quarterfinals, joining Canada, Mexico, Panama and the United States in the battle for a place in the Nations League Finals, scheduled for SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles next March.
The Reggae Boyz face a formidable challenge against Mexico, the competition’s top-ranked team, in a two-leg series that begins at Kingston’s National Stadium on Saturday, November 14.
Jamaica will then travel to Estadio Monterrey for the decisive return leg on November 17, knowing that a strong performance across both matches will be required to overcome one of the region’s leading football powers.
Haiti face an equally demanding assignment against the United States. Ongoing internal upheaval at home means the Haitians will stage their nominal home leg at Sabina Park in Kingston on November 14 before traveling to Cincinnati for the second match at TQL Stadium on November 17.
The rewards extend beyond a place in the Nations League Finals. Both quarterfinal winners and losers will have their Gold Cup pathways determined by the outcome: the four winners will advance to the Finals and qualify directly for the 2027 Gold Cup, while the losing teams will move into the Gold Cup Prelims.
League B race set for frantic finish
The competition will be just as intense in League B, where all 16 teams are preparing to contest their final two group-stage matches.
The four group winners will be crowned League B champions in March 2027 and earn direct qualification for the Gold Cup. The race for the two best second-place finishes will also be critical, as those teams will advance to the Gold Cup Prelims.
Several Caribbean sides remain in contention, with multiple host nations preparing to stage important matches on home soil.
Guyana will welcome opponents to the Leonora National Track and Field Centre, where its November 16 meeting with Puerto Rico stands out as a key fixture.
Guadeloupe will serve as another competition hub at Stade Roger Zami, hosting matches involving Barbados, Bermuda and St. Lucia.
In Havana, Cuba will stage three matches at Estadio La Polar, with Bonaire, Grenada, and St. Kitts and Nevis set to visit.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines will also enjoy home advantage at the Arnos Vale Sporting Complex, where Belize, Sint Maarten and French Guiana will be the visiting teams.
With group titles, direct Gold Cup qualification and potential places in the Prelims at stake, the final two rounds will leave little room for error.
Play-In round offers another route
For Caribbean teams outside the League A quarterfinals and the direct qualification places available through League B, the Play-In round provides another opportunity to keep their Gold Cup ambitions alive.
Martinique, Trinidad and Tobago, Aruba, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Martin and Montserrat are among the teams seeking to advance to the Gold Cup Prelims.
The first-leg schedule begins November 12, when Aruba hosts Martinique and Antigua and Barbuda welcomes Trinidad and Tobago.
The return legs in those matchups are scheduled for November 16.
Elsewhere, Saint Martin will host El Salvador in the opening leg of their series, while Montserrat takes on Nicaragua. Both return matches are set for November 17.
As the November window approaches, Caribbean teams across the competition will be chasing more than group-stage points. For some, it is a chance to challenge the region’s elite; for others, it is an opportunity to secure a direct route to the Gold Cup or preserve their hopes through the Prelims.
The stakes are clear: November will go a long way toward determining which Caribbean nations remain in contention for continental honors in 2027.
