On Tuesday, January 3, California’s former Attorney General Kamala Harris, the daughter of Jamaican and Indian immigrants, was sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden as the first Black-female senator from California, and the second black-female senator in the US Senate.Harris was one of seven new US Senators sworn in on Tuesday.
