CA Osasuna and SIG collaborate to bring football enrichment camp to Jamaica in April

Sports Innovators Group Ltd (SIG) has secured a three-year partnership with Spanish La Liga club CA Osasuna to organize an annual football camp in Jamaica.

Scheduled from April 1-5, 2024, at the Barbican Astro Turf, the inaugural camp aims to provide a transformative experience for young Jamaican football enthusiasts aged 8 to 17, irrespective of gender.

The collaboration between SIG and CA Osasuna seeks to elevate the skills of Jamaican players through structured training sessions led by seasoned coaches. Managing Director at SIG, Paul Campbell, emphasized the strategic significance of nurturing local talent and cited the success of previous initiatives like the SL Benfica camp.

Introducing European methodologies early on

Campbell stressed the importance of quality coaching in shaping the trajectory of young players, noting concerns about their adaptation to professional football abroad. Introducing European methodologies early on, as Campbell mentioned, could facilitate smoother transitions for Jamaican players aiming for international careers.

The CA Osasuna camp, accommodating 80 participants, will feature rigorous training sessions spread across four days, culminating in inter-squad games on the fifth day. This setup not only hones players' skills but also provides a platform for talent recognition.

Head of the Physical Conditioning department at CA Osasuna, Iokin Lobo Yeregui, expressed eagerness about the opportunity to work with Jamaican players. Yeregui stressed the importance of tailoring training to suit the players' age and maximizing their developmental potential.

The camp doubles as a talent identification platform for CA Osasuna

Endorsed by the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), the camp doubles as a talent identification platform for CA Osasuna, offering Jamaican players a chance to pursue professional careers abroad.

Moreover, the camp incorporates a coaching education workshop, allowing 10 local coaches to collaborate with CA Osasuna's coaching staff. This initiative aims to enhance football expertise in Jamaica, aligning with SIG and CA Osasuna's commitment to holistic football development.

The partnership signifies a significant stride in Jamaica's footballing journey, promising world-class coaching and opportunities for player and coach development in the Caribbean nation.
