Byron Messia’s “Talibans” hits gold in Canada

Jamaican-born and St. Kitts-based Dancehall sensation, Byron Messia, is reveling in the golden glow of success. His track “Talibans” has clinched gold certification in Canada, marking an impressive achievement for 40,000 units in sales and streaming figures.

The recognition, handed down by Music Canada, underscores the global reach of the Caribbean's vibrant music scene.

Chart-topping success

“Talibans”, distributed under the labels Ztekk/Simple Stupid Records/Geffen/Interscope earlier this year, has not just been a hit in Canada.

It has been weaving its magic on music charts worldwide.

The song found its groove at number 75 on the Irish Singles chart and made an impressive leap to number 12 on the UK Singles chart. Furthermore, it climbed to number 18 on Nigeria’s Hot 100 and recently debuted at number 21 on Germany’s Urban/Hip-hop chart.

Making waves in the US

Across the Atlantic, in the United States, a remixed avatar of “Talibans” titled “Talibans II”, featuring the Afrobeat star Burna Boy, skyrocketed to number three on the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs chart.

Not to be outdone, the original rendition of “Talibans” danced its way to various US charts, peaking at notable positions including number 99 on the Billboard Hot 100 and securing slots within the top 20 of several other charts.

UK silver streak

It was not just Canada that was entranced by the infectious beats of “Talibans”. The United Kingdom, known for its discerning music aficionados, awarded the song with a silver certification in August, celebrating over 200,000 units in combined sales and streams.
