Three people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Ammon Watson, who was gunned down in August 2024 in Oakland Park, the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) announced Friday.

The shooting took place around noon on Saturday, August 24, 2024, near the 2100 block of Northwest 28th Street. According to BSO spokesperson Miranda Grossman, deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to the scene and found Watson in the driveway of a home. He was pronounced dead on-site.

Watson, a father to a 6-month-old son, was reportedly approached in the driveway by a gunman who shot him before fleeing on foot. Deputies initially canvassed the area and established a perimeter, but no suspects were located at the time.

Following months of investigation, detectives identified Ta’Narine Hamilton, 18, Khalil Elie, 22, and Morris King Jr., 19, as suspects. Hamilton was already in custody on an unrelated charge when he was linked to the case. Elie was arrested on June 16, and King was taken into custody in Sunrise on July 10. He was booked into the BSO Main Jail.

All three men face one count of first-degree felony murder. Jail records show both Elie and King are currently being held without bond. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the shooting.
