On Tuesday, Aug. 6, the Broward Sheriff’s Office will celebrate its employees, community partners and citizens for their exceptional service and dedication to the community.

During the Aug. 6 ceremony at Baily Hall at Broward College, BSO will also recognize one Medal of Honor recipient, Gold and Silver Cross recipients, deputies of the year, civilian employees of the year, citizen of the year and units of the year. Sheriff Dr. Gregory Tony will also issue awards for life saving, exceptional service and the Grand Cordon Unit Achievement.

Among the honorees at BSO’s annual awards ceremony will be a detective whose mission is to safeguard our children by successfully arresting numerous sexual offenders, a fire rescue captain whose remarkable compassion and abilities significantly contribute to public safety and a communications operator who expertly guided a caller through CPR saving the patient’s life.

Also named in the honorees is a patrol squad that apprehended an armed student on a school campus, stopped a shooting at a Walmart, conducted a human trafficking investigation and responded to multiple armed robberies in just the span of a year.
