The ceremony took place at the 110 Tower in Fort Lauderdale, where Judge Alperstein was also presented with a special proclamation from Broward County Commissioner Nan H. Rich. The proclamation officially declared May 29 as “Judge Lauren Alperstein Appreciation Day” in Broward County.
“I am deeply honored to receive the Tzedek Award from the Broward County Bar Association and the Jewish Bar Association,” said Judge Alperstein. “This recognition holds profound personal and professional meaning for me. As a Jewish judge, the values of justice, fairness, and compassion are not only central to my role on the bench but are also deeply rooted in the traditions and teachings that have shaped my life. The concept of tzedek—justice—is a guiding principle in both Jewish thought and the legal system, and I am humbled to be acknowledged for striving to uphold it in service to my community and the law. The Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court, headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, serves Broward County and is the second-largest circuit court in Florida. It includes 90 judges—32 serving in county court and 58 in circuit court. The circuit encompasses four courthouses: the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, as well as satellite locations in Deerfield Beach, Plantation, and Hollywood.
