A Broward Sheriff's Office deputy has been arrested after police said he attacked his fiancée during an early-morning domestic dispute at their Miramar home on Monday.
Miramar Police officers responded shortly after 2 a.m. to the 11200 block of Southwest 45th Court following reports of a domestic battery involving 27-year-old Deputy Isaiah John Romeo Williams and his fiancée.
Williams had left the scene before officers arrived but later surrendered to authorities, police said.
According to the arrest report, the woman had been dropped off at the couple's home by a male friend and found her belongings on the front porch.
Police allege Williams approached her, yelled at her and punched her in the face before strangling her for approximately 20 seconds.
The arrest report states that the woman then pulled out a firearm, which Williams allegedly grabbed from her hand and hid.
Williams was charged with simple battery, domestic battery by strangulation, robbery by sudden snatching with a firearm, and tampering with or altering evidence, according to records.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said Williams was placed on administrative investigative leave without pay following his arrest.
He remained in jail as of Monday night.
Authorities have not released additional details about the incident.
