Broward county commissioners applaud Florida Senate's actions on Affordable Housing Trust Fund

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners has announced their enthusiastic support of the Florida Senate for not sweeping any revenues from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund (aka as Sadowski Housing Trust Fund).

As affordable housing is the most pressing priority for Broward commissioners, the Board is pleased that the Senate is taking the challenge of affordable housing seriously and putting its money where it will help the challenge most.

Broward County is a major contributor to the Sadowski Housing Trust Fund and yet has not received its fair share of available funds.

According to the most recent figures from 2015, Broward contributed $30.7 million dollars to the Fund through the documentary stamp tax on real estate transactions; however, was only re-allocated $11.3 million of their contribution to use toward housing affordability. Broward County supports full funding of the Sadowski Housing Trust Fund and the prohibition of sweeping trust fund dollars to stabilize and fund the state General Revenue.
