Bowens rewrites the record books as Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica celebrate dominant wins

 A breathtaking double century from Barbados captain Gadson Bowens, a composed match-winning half-century by Brendan Boodoo, and a commanding unbeaten century from Odane Binns highlighted another entertaining day in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Men's 50-Over Championship on Monday.

While defending champions Barbados shattered tournament records with a crushing victory over the Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago secured their second consecutive triumph by overcoming the Windward Islands, and Jamaica broke into the winners' column with an emphatic 10-wicket demolition of Guyana.

Bowens produces historic masterclass as Barbados rewrite the record books

No performance was more remarkable than Bowens' unforgettable innings at Coolidge Cricket Ground.

The Barbados skipper unleashed one of the greatest knocks in tournament history, hammering 209 from just 122 deliveries, decorated with 22 fours and 13 sixes, to propel his side to an astonishing 439 for eight from their 50 overs.

The mammoth total eclipsed the previous tournament record of 392 for nine, ironically another Barbados effort achieved against the Windward Islands in the opening round.

Bowens also established a new benchmark for the highest individual score in the competition.

His spectacular innings began with patience before accelerating dramatically. Alongside opener Damarko Wiggins, who anchored the innings with 53 from 95 balls, Bowens constructed a commanding 194-run opening partnership across 29 overs that laid the perfect foundation.

After Wiggins departed, Bowens maintained the assault, adding another 67 runs with Jordan Graham (20) before finally falling as the third wicket at 317 in the 41st over.

His dismissal did little to slow Barbados.

Jahidi Hinds ignited the closing overs with an unbeaten 53 from only 19 balls, smashing five sixes and two boundaries. R'Jai Gittens blasted 40 from 17 deliveries, while Kelani Clarke added a rapid 31, allowing Barbados to plunder an extraordinary 122 runs from the final 10 overs.

Despite the punishment, Matthew Miller battled hard to finish with 4-48 for the Leeward Islands.

Leewards start brightly before Barbados tighten their grip

The daunting chase began with promise.

Tanez Francis and Kunal Tilokani attacked from the outset, racing to 76 for one inside six overs, with Tilokani blazing 59 off just 21 balls.

Francis continued the counterattack, combining with J'Quan Athanaze in a lively 46-run stand before the innings unraveled.

Once Zarrell Harding removed Athanaze for 17, Barbados seized complete control.

Hinds then switched from explosive batter to destructive bowler, slicing through the middle order with his medium pace. Francis' dismissal for 55 from 38 balls left the Leewards struggling at 147 for five, and they never recovered, eventually folding for 181 in 23.5 overs.

Hinds returned outstanding figures of 4-39, while Justin Parris collected 2-3 and Harding finished with 2-60, sealing Barbados' commanding 258-run victory.

Boodoo guides Trinidad and Tobago past spirited Windwards

Earlier at Coolidge Cricket Ground, Trinidad and Tobago maintained their unbeaten start by defeating the Windward Islands by three wickets.

The Windwards struggled for momentum after choosing to bat, eventually posting 183 for nine despite a determined rescue act from Tyler Venner.

With his team reeling at 73 for six, Venner displayed resilience, compiling 62 from 96 balls while stitching together valuable lower-order partnerships.

He added 46 runs with Kevin Joseph (17) before combining with unbeaten number nine Kazado Henry (15 not out) for another 41-run stand, lifting the total to something respectable before falling in the final over.

Trinidad and Tobago's disciplined attack was led by Daniel Holder, whose 3-28 set the tone, while Brendan Boodoo claimed 2-18 and Daron Dhanraj finished with 2-26.

Boodoo completes all-round performance

Boodoo then capped an outstanding all-round display with the bat.

His composed 67 from 81 balls, coupled with a 57-run partnership alongside Tariq Richards, placed Trinidad and Tobago firmly in command at 101 for two.

The Windwards briefly threatened a dramatic comeback when medium pacer Aravinda Bishop removed three wickets in quick succession, including Richards for 43, reducing the chase to 170 for six.

Boodoo also departed during the wobble, raising hopes of an unlikely turnaround.

Those hopes proved short-lived.

Christiano Ramanan remained calm under pressure, finishing unbeaten on 23 to steer Trinidad and Tobago safely to 184 for seven in 38.5 overs.

Bishop ended with impressive figures of 3-38.

Moore sparks collapse before Jamaica's openers finish the job

At Bethesda Sports Ground, Jamaica produced their most complete performance of the tournament, overwhelming Guyana by 10 wickets to secure their first victory.

Guyana appeared headed for a formidable total after Parmeshwar Ram and Shamar Apple combined for an 82-run partnership, carrying the score to 175 for two in the 31st over.

Ram top-scored with 78 from 93 balls, while Apple contributed an even 50 from 72 deliveries.

The innings, however, unraveled spectacularly.

Medium pacer Perico Henry triggered the collapse by dismissing Ram before spinner Geovanni Grey removed Romario Ramdehol for 18.

Then came the decisive spell from Jahdae Moore.

The pacer tore through the lower order, claiming the wickets of Apple, Dhanesh Persaud, Joshua Budram, Feaaz Baksh, and Jonathan Mentore as Guyana crashed from a position of strength to 225 all out in 44.4 overs, losing their final eight wickets for just 50 runs.

Moore finished with an outstanding 5-36, while Henry supported with 2-51.

Binns and Gordon Jr complete ruthless chase

Jamaica's response was every bit as dominant as its bowling effort.

Openers Odane Binns and Tyson Gordon Jr. made the target appear effortless, producing an unbroken opening stand that carried Jamaica to 229 without loss in only 37 overs, sealing victory with 13 overs to spare.

Binns struck a fluent 104 not out from 109 balls, featuring nine fours and five sixes, while Gordon Jr. remained unbeaten on 83 from 115 deliveries, peppering the boundary with 10 fours.

Guyana compounded its difficulties by conceding 42 extras, helping Jamaica cruise to one of the most comprehensive victories of the tournament so far.
