Best of the Best returns: Miami set for epic Memorial Weekend celebration

Reggae and dancehall fans from around the globe are gearing up for an unforgettable Memorial Day Weekend as the 19th annual Best of the Best Music Fest takes over Bayfront Park in Downtown Miami on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Billed as North America’s premier Caribbean music festival, this year’s event promises a full day of culture, food, and top-tier entertainment for the entire family. With free entry for kids 12 and under when accompanied by an adult, the event is expected to draw thousands of fans of all ages. This year’s lineup is stacked with reggae royalty and rising stars. Among the headline performers are Beres Hammond, Buju Banton, and Marcia Griffiths, sharing the stage with crowd favorites like Romain Virgo, Wayne Wonder, Nadine Sutherland, Chronic Law, 450, and Skinny Fabulous, with even more acts to be revealed. Last month’s official media launch in Florida brought the energy early, giving fans a taste of what to expect. Hosted in the heart of Florida’s vibrant Caribbean community, the event featured performances, surprise guest appearances, and remarks from reggae luminaries. Reggae icon Buju Banton, whose history with the festival stretches back to its early years, reflected on its impact: “Many of us have grown up with the notion of going to Best of the Best or looking forward to attending the festival every year,” Buju shared. “It had taken a hiatus where it was absent for a while, and now it’s back, so we hope to bring that vibe and that energy back. What it means to the people, it was so special. To bring your family out on a Sunday. The music was nice, the atmosphere was nice. We’re going to recreate that vibe.” Buju also highlighted the festival’s unique ability to unite cultures: “It means a lot not only for the Jamaican community but also the Haitian community, the Caribbean diaspora in general. You get soca, a little dancehall, reggae—it’s a whole package. One can be entertained with different aspects of Caribbean music.” Marcia Griffiths, often hailed as the First Lady of Reggae, expressed her deep appreciation for the opportunity to perform in this year's lineup: “I’m happy, thankful, and honored to share the stage with some of my very special coworkers and friends,” she said. Also taking the mic was beloved crooner Wayne Wonder, who surprised the audience with a live preview of new music, teasing what’s to come when he hits the main stage this weekend. The media launch also spotlighted emerging artist Jah Ted, whose impromptu set signaled the festival’s continued commitment to showcasing the next generation of Caribbean talent alongside established legends.
