More than 247,000 students and 14,000 teachers in Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) are preparing to head back to class on Monday, August 11, 2025, marking the start of a new academic year. Among them are the incoming kindergarteners—members of the Class of 2038—beginning their educational journeys.

To mark the occasion, BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn will visit schools across the District, spending the day greeting students, families, teachers, and staff. His tour underscores BCPS’ focus on academic excellence and building strong, supportive school communities.

"We are incredibly excited to welcome our students back for what promises to be an outstanding academic year," said Superintendent Dr. Hepburn. "Our dedicated teachers and staff have been working tirelessly to prepare engaging classes and enriching programs that will empower all students to reach their full potential. I am looking forward to visiting our schools on the first day and sharing in the energy and enthusiasm of a new year of learning.”

Dr. Hepburn will begin his day in Coconut Creek, helping students start strong with breakfast before visiting classrooms and meeting with school administrators, teachers, and support staff. He will be joined throughout the day by School Board members, District leaders, and local officials, all eager to celebrate the first day of school with the BCPS community.
