Barbados storms to back-to-back Rising Stars titles

Barbados wrapped up the CWI Rising Stars Men's Under-19 50-over Championship with a round to spare on Saturday, producing another polished all-round performance to overwhelm Trinidad and Tobago by six wickets and successfully defend their title.

The victory improved Barbados' flawless record to 4-0, and with the Leeward Islands falling to Guyana elsewhere, the defending champions became mathematically unreachable ahead of Monday's final round of matches.

Meanwhile, Jamaica ended its day on a winning note after recording a convincing victory over the Windward Islands.

Parsooram sparks stunning collapse

The championship-clinching victory was built on a devastating bowling display led by Rajeev Parsooram, whose outstanding five-wicket haul transformed the contest after Trinidad and Tobago had made an encouraging start.

The visitors looked well positioned for a competitive total as openers Christian Lall and Levi Ghanny stitched together an impressive 92-run partnership.

Lall anchored the innings with a composed 54 from 63 deliveries, while Ghanny provided solid support before Barbados finally found the breakthrough.

Once Parsooram had Lall caught, the innings unraveled rapidly.

Raphael Lovell then removed Ghanny, who was stumped for 25, before Tariq Richards, Christiano Ramanan, and Renaldo Fournillier all departed cheaply as Trinidad and Tobago slumped from a position of strength to 110-5 after 26 overs.

Captain Brendan Boodoo battled for 22, but no other batter reached double figures as wickets continued to tumble. Trinidad and Tobago were eventually dismissed for 141 in 37.1 overs, surrendering all momentum after their dominant opening stand.

Parsooram finished with outstanding figures of 5-35, while Justin Parris claimed 2-9 and Lovell supported well with 2-21.

Early stumble fails to derail Barbados

Trinidad and Tobago briefly threatened to make a contest of the chase when Renaldo Fournillier struck twice inside the opening six overs.

His early breakthroughs accounted for Gadson Bowens and Damarko Wiggins, reducing Barbados to 11-2 and offering a glimmer of hope.

However, the champions responded with the composure that has defined their unbeaten campaign.

Jordan Graham steadied the innings with a valuable 37, while Kemar Dixon added 23 to restore control.

When Barbados slipped to 88-4, Seth Smith and Justin Parris ensured there would be no further alarms.

Smith compiled a calm, unbeaten 40, while Parris finished on 27 not out, the pair sharing an unbroken 54-run partnership for the fifth wicket to guide Barbados safely to 142-4 in 31.1 overs.

Their measured stand carried the defending champions across the finish line with nearly 20 overs to spare, completing another emphatic performance and confirming Barbados as deserving back-to-back champions.

Perfect campaign rewards Barbados's consistency

Barbados' latest triumph reflected the consistency they have displayed throughout the tournament.

With four victories from four matches, they entered the final round as the only unbeaten side in the competition, while every other contender had already suffered at least two defeats.

The commanding title defense underlined Barbados' depth with both bat and ball, as another complete team performance secured the regional Under-19 championship before the tournament's final day.
