From Yard, the award-winning television pilot based on David G. Heron’s autobiographical novel Yardie, is now available for international streaming on Tubi.

The immigrant urban drama follows Heron’s life from his childhood in Jamaica to his turbulent young adulthood in New York City, where he served as an NYPD parole officer. Adapted by Heron, Noel E. Dunn, and Maya Hall, the one-hour pilot was directed by Leland Benford and produced by Leland and Phaedra Benford of Cupcake Rapture Studios, with Heron as executive producer.

Distributed by Wish Love Media, the pilot is intended as the launch of a full season. Heron said the Tubi deal is a key step in securing that goal: “Streaming on Tubi enables us to reach a wide international audience, which we hope will help us produce a full season of episodes. This moment represents years of passion, dedication and tenacity, beginning with the original publication of Yardie.”

Following its 2023 red-carpet premiere at Kingston’s Palace Cineplex, From Yard screened at several international film festivals, earning critical acclaim and multiple awards, including Best Short Drama at the 2024 Shoot Your Shot Film Festival and a Special Recognition Award at the 2025 Spotlight Short Film Awards. It was also a finalist at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival and an official selection at both the Black Film Festival Atlanta and Caribbean Tales International Film Festival.

The cast, led by Shevrado Oliver as David G. Heron, also features Glen “Titus” Campbell, David Heron, Joe Herrera, Darron Donaldson, Miranda Melhado, and Adam Christian. Since filming, many cast members have seen their careers soar: Oliver won Best Actor at the 2024 Accolade Global Recognition Awards and debuted on the New York stage, while Campbell secured Jamaica’s Actor Boy Award for Best Actor in Room 513. Joe Herrera appeared in STARZ’s BMF, and Heron himself won the 2024 Broadway World Award for Best Supporting Performer in The Tempest.

Producer-director Leland Benford, whose debut feature Empathy also streams on Tubi, praised the ensemble: “We’re proud of our cast, whose continued success strengthens the visibility of From Yard. Their talent and growing fan bases can make a big difference as we pursue a full season.”
