The results place Arajet firmly as the third-largest airline operating in the Dominican market, behind U.S. carriers JetBlue and American Airlines.
The JAC figures also highlight the continued dominance of Dominican-registered carriers within the domestic aviation sector. Together, Dominican airlines moved 176,201 passengers in May, with Arajet accounting for roughly 94% of that total. Skyhigh represented about 4%, while Air Century accounted for approximately 2%.
Buenos Aires leads route performance
Buenos Aires emerged as Arajet’s busiest international route during May, followed by New York, Miami, Medellín and Bogotá, reflecting strong demand across both North and South American markets.
The United States remained Arajet’s largest market overall, representing about 23% of total passenger traffic. Argentina accounted for 18%, while Colombia followed closely at 17%. Combined, those three countries made up nearly 60% of the airline’s total passengers for the month.
Growth as regional hub strategy expands
The airline’s latest performance underscores its rapid expansion and growing role in positioning the Dominican Republic as a regional aviation hub.
Arajet’s network strategy, which emphasizes low-cost connectivity across the Americas, continues to strengthen traffic flows through its Santo Domingo and Punta Cana bases, contributing to increased passenger volumes and broader international reach for Dominican aviation.
The airline’s performance in May adds to a series of strong monthly results as it continues scaling operations in competitive markets across the Americas.
