American woman undergoes evaluation following mental episode at Jamaican airport

An American woman is undergoing an assessment following a mental episode at the Sangster International Airport in St. James, Jamaica on Tuesday.

The incident unfolded as the woman, who is said to be a dentist, was preparing for a United Airlines flight to Las Vegas, Nevada.

Altercation leads to bizarre behavior

As the departure time approached, tension escalated when the American woman became embroiled in a heated altercation with another female passenger. 

The situation quickly deteriorated as she began to undress, sparking a series of erratic actions that left onlookers stunned.

Erratic behavior escalates

Reports are that the woman pushed aside individuals who offered her clothing and assistance. 

She further hurled her belongings at persons.

Confrontation with authorities

According to reports, local law enforcement intervened, and she attacked them.

Amid the commotion, she screamed a barrage of expletives and embarked on a shouting rampage.

Restraint and hospitalization

A widely circulated three-minute video on social media captured the woman in a state of uncontrollable screaming and behavior, with police and security officers trying to restrain her.

Reports are that while on the floor, persons attempted to put back on her underwear and covered her in items of clothing. 

The woman was subsequently transported to Cornwall Regional Hospital for evaluation. 

It is reported that she was on vacation in Jamaica with her friends.

Reports are that Delano Seiveright, a Senior Advisor and Strategist within the Tourism Ministry has confirmed that the authorities have made contact with the woman’s family.
