American visitor dies after complaining of ‘belly pains’ during stay in Jamaica

A 61-year-old American visitor died after experiencing severe abdominal discomfort during her stay at a hotel in Ocho Rios, St Ann, Jamaica.

Joan Grocia-Tomlinson hailing from Georgia in the United States, had arrived on the island just days before, seeking relaxation and exploration in the picturesque Caribbean setting.

Reports of discomfort

Upon her arrival on Friday, Grocia-Tomlinson checked into a hotel. However, her sojourn took an unexpected turn when she began experiencing ‘belly pains’. 

Reports are that action was taken, and she was transported to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital for medical attention. Following treatment, she was released.

Tragic turn of events

Despite the initial respite, the distress resurfaced on Sunday evening, around 7:00 pm local time. 

Reports are that she was taken back to the hospital, where she succumbed to her ailment while undergoing treatment.
