Coming off a strong showing with the hit song International Wine with rapper Yaco M, Jamaican singjay Natural Vibes goes it alone on One Up To Me Thing, a dancehall jam scheduled for release on May 17.

The song is produced by Matthew ‘Stupid Genius’ Nawada, who did similar duties on International Wine, which came out in February. With his latest song, Orlando-based Natural Vibes is looking to keep the momentum going.

“We are trying to capitalize on the popularity of International Wine. It has grown my social media platform and I’ve gained a lot of fans from different countries,” he said.

Natural Vibes and Yaco M are scheduled to perform in Colombia in the summer. While there, he plans to introduce International Wine and One Up To Me Thing to arguably the biggest pop music market in South America. “We just want to get things on a larger scale,” said Natural Vibes.

One Up To Me Thing hears the Montego Bay-born artist returning to his dancehall roots. When he started his career in that resort city during the 1990s, acts like Beenie Man, Bounty Killer and Sizzla were the rage, and were among his biggest influences.

Those influences can be heard on Born to Be Great, Natural Vibes’ debut album which was released last year by VP Records. That set also exposed his admiration for Latin sounds through two collaborations with Yaco M, an American of Puerto Rican descent.

International Wine’s Latin-tinged dancehall has earned them a following in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Colombia. In April, Natural Vibes and Yaco M performed at Moto Rock Fest, a major event in Sabinas Hidalgo, Mexico.
