Passengers travelling to Jamaica urged to complete C5 Immigration Form online to avoid delays

Jamaica’s Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, has urged incoming passengers, especially Jamaicans, to complete the newly introduced C5 Immigration Form online before arriving on the island. This step is being recommended to help ensure smoother airport processing and minimize delays.

Bartlett’s appeal for travelers to complete the new C5 Immigration Form online comes after significant delays at Sangster International Airport (SIA) on Saturday, just before the start of the 2024-2025 Winter Tourist Season. These delays were attributed to many homecoming Jamaicans failing to complete the C5 Immigration Form ahead of their arrival. Bartlett acknowledged the issue, stating, “Yesterday (Saturday) was a little rocky.

I heard we had too many planes on the ground and too many people around, so we need to address the issue with the C5 form.” He made this statement during a visit to the airport on Sunday, highlighting the importance of pre-completing the form to avoid delays and improve the flow of passengers. “I’m making the appeal that all our visitors, especially Jamaicans coming home, should fill out the C5 form electronically before their arrival,” the minister urged.

Jamaica is poised for a historic winter tourism season, with estimates predicting up to 1.6 million airline seats from across the globe. Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett highlighted that this winter sees 178,000 more seats than any previous season. If 80% of these seats are filled, it would mean 1.45 million passengers. At full capacity, that number could rise to 1.6 million, making it the largest winter tourism season in Jamaica’s history.

Given these impressive figures, Bartlett emphasized the need for a smooth and efficient travel experience. He strongly encouraged visitors to complete the C5 Immigration Form when purchasing their airline tickets to avoid delays upon arrival. “If you haven’t filled out the form when purchasing your ticket, make sure to do so before you board your flight,” he advised. He also suggested that travelers use their mobile devices to complete the form during the flight, ensuring quicker processing and preventing bottlenecks at the airport.

Since September 1 of last year, it has been mandatory for travelers coming to Jamaica to complete the C5 Immigration Form online. The form replaced the traditional paper-based document that was previously provided to passengers onboard their flights.

The Immigration/Customs (C5) Form is a required entry document for all travelers to Jamaica, whether residents or visitors. It allows passengers to input their details in advance. By filling out the form in advance, travelers can expedite the immigration process upon arrival, contributing to a more efficient and hassle-free experience at the airport. This initiative is part of Jamaica’s ongoing efforts to enhance the travel experience for both citizens and tourists, improving overall efficiency in the immigration process.
