Woman makes bomb threats to Ft. Lauderdale courthouse, police station and hospital

Authorities in Fort Lauderdale were thrust into high alert when a local woman made several bomb threats targeting a courthouse, police station, and a hospital in the city.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office arrest report,  29-year-old Ashley Nicole Bernard was arrested on Tuesday on three counts of making a false bomb threat and one count of intimidation-written threat to kill or injure.

The alarming call 

Reports are that Bernard dialed 911 and made three potential bomb sites. 

These included the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, a police station near Exit 21 on Hollywood Boulevard (located across from a Target store), and the Joe DiMaggio Memorial Hospital.

Threats posted on social media

According to reports, authorities discovered that Bernard also posted threats on Instagram. 

She hinted on the platform a potential plan to harm the families of officers from the Hollywood Police Department and the Broward Sheriff’s Office. 

“There’s too many hospitals and police stations to shoot up so Hollywood PD and the Broward Sheriff’s Office will be shot up first,” she posted, according to the report. 

“I’ll find their families and wipe them off the face of this earth not the children though.”

Records indicate that Bernard was booked into jail, where she was being held on $20,000 bond Wednesday.
