The City of Miramar will mark Juneteenth 2025 with a two-day celebration led by Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne and headlined by renowned scholar and New York Times best-selling author Dr. Eddie Glaude, Jr.
The events will honor the emancipation of enslaved African Americans while celebrating Black culture, resilience, and achievement.
Dr. Glaude, one of the nation’s most respected voices on African American history and democracy, will serve as keynote speaker during the Juneteenth Dinner & Awards Presentation on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at the Miramar Cultural Center Banquet Hall. The commemoration continues on Thursday, June 19, with a family-friendly community gathering from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at City Hall Plaza. The Juneteenth Family Day promises a festive atmosphere with cultural presentations, live entertainment, and activities for all ages.
“These events are more than a celebration—they are an affirmation of our shared history, achievements, and unity as a community,” said Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne. “I invite all residents to join us in honoring this important milestone with culture, expression and reflection.”
